Dreams & Wishes Beliefs

Dreams & Wishes believes that every child should be able to cherish and experience

positive childhood dreams and wishes that will assist in developing and providing

positive childhood memories. We believe that children’s dreams and wishes assist in

fostering positive family connections, attachments and memories. For the children that Dreams & Wishes hopes to reach, it may be one of the few positive, experiences that

the children will experience.

Children affected by and exposed to domestic violence, physical, sexual and/or emotional

abuse, homelessness, poverty, abandonment, and neglect as well as those children seeking

refuge from war torn countries, often do not have  magical, fond memories of their

childhood, rather, the traumatic events from their childhood continue to shape their every

day lives and in turn this produces adults with a negative view of childhood and little

ability to provide a true positive childhood experience to their own children.

We believe that:

1       Positive Childhood memories through community involvement foster strong

     family and community bonds.

1       Every child who wishes to celebrate their Birthday with a Special Birthday

Celebration and a Special Birthday Present should be able to do so.

2       Every family should have the opportunity to bond and preserve childhood

memories by participating in positive family events.

3       Financial and other socially stigmatizing and traumatic events should not

prevent a child from having their Dreams and Wishes met.

4       Every child is worthy and entitled to magical, and fond memories of their

     childhood.

5       For children and families deemed underprivileged and/or in need to invest

in their community, the community needs to demonstrate their investment in

     the family.
